Luke Bryan To Sing National Anthem At Super Bowl Without Reading Off His Palm This Time?

The national anthem will be given a little country-music twist for the Super Bowl LI with Luke Bryan’s performance next month in Texas.

The singer created controversy when he was caught by fans reading lyrics off his hand at a 2012 MLB All-Star game. He later apologized for doing so through Twitter, claiming that he was afraid he might make a mistake during his performance so he had written a few “key words” down on his palm as a reminder.
Despite the controversy, Bryan did another national anthem performance gig in 2016 that attracted the third biggest broadcast audience in US television history.
Lady Gaga will be performing this year’s halftime show after singing the national anthem last year. The singer is reportedly be performing without any traditional guest apperances.

Bryan’s rendtion of the “Star-Spangled Banner” will be the first time since 2012 a country or a country-adjacent singer has been under the pre-game spotlight.
February 5 in Houston will see the face off between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons.

Hopefully Bryan would have done all his homework and won’t be needing any additional “assistance” this time around.
