“Hidden Figures” Next To Win Oscars Best Picture?

“Hidden Figures” won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the Screen Actors Guild Award on Sunday. The film is the first one since 2011 to headline with a strong female cast, Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, as number one for 2 consecutive weeks.
With its win at the SAG, it wouldn’t be a far stretch for “Hidden Figures” to win Best Picture.
With the strong opposition the Trump adminstration has met by celebrities, as seen from the speeches made at the SAG, now would be a good tiime for Hollyood to honor our country’s values. And what’s a better way to promote America’s diversity than for movies like “Hidden Figures” or “Moonlight” to win Best Picture.
The hit box office film crossed over the $100 million threshold this weekend for domestic gross. “La La Land” too passed this impressive threshold, however it took longer to accomplish it.
Although “La La Land” remains to be the front runner film to winning Best Picture, Academy voters who what to make a statement to Trump’s America and want to create a need for inclusive storytelling, “Hidden Figures” is the way to vote.
